Pick A Main Calendar
The first thing you need to do is pick a main calendar. I suggest Google as this will allow you to import both SimplePractice and Alma into it. SimplePractice does not allow you to import calendars and ALMA only allows you to import one.
I personally use Google as my main calendar. Google has a lot more functionality than ALMA or SimplePractice. It’s easy to use, customizable, and it easily integrates with my personal calendar.
Let’s now break down how to sync them
1.Go to to the settings in your SimplePractice Calendar.
2.Click Calendar
3.Turn on Sync
4.Copy Link
5.Go to Google Calendar Settings
6.Click Add Calendar
7.Click “From URL”
8.Paste SimplePractice Link
9.Go to ALMA Calendar Settings
10.Scroll to “Copy” under “Export”
11.Repeat the same process for adding the Simplepractice Calendar into Google.
Some things to know
Having synced calendars is really helpful, but there are some limitations. First, you wont be able to make major edits to other calendars from Google. For example, although I can see the Simplepractice calendar in Google I can not create new client appointment from there, I need to be in SimplePractice. I believe the same goes for ALMA. However, you can make small adjustments to the SimplePractice/Alma calendar from Google, such as moving the time around.
Other than that though this should make your life much easier.
